We have many facets to the services we provide for the community, which touch all the arts: visual, performing, literary. If we can help you in any of your artistic endeavours, please let us know.

Our meetings are the fourth Monday of every month, 7 p.m., in Council Chambers at the Town Office. If you would like to volunteer to be a part of our wonderful membership, please phone 745-2231. Interested people are welcome to attend.

Announcing PRADO II - June 4-6, 2010 - Godfrey Dean Art Gallery, Yorkton, Sask.
A joint effort of the Melville Arts Council, the Yorkton Arts Council, Godfrey Dean Art Gallery
and the Esterhazy & District Arts Council, this event is an opportunity for Parkland artists
to be a part of this second annual artists deveopment and adjudication weekend.
Grand Prize valued at over $1,000. (For more information, see our Visual Arts page.)

Art Display during Esterhazy Days - June 26, 2010 - former Harvard Zavedosky studio, Esterhazy, Sask.,
graciously offered by Brian and Elaine Tochor. On display will be artwork and photography
of various local artists, and a collection of books written by local writers.
More details to come. (Note that Esterhazy Days run June 25 and 26 - the art display will only be on June 26.)

 

Digital Photography Workshop - Summer, 2010 - date, time and place TBA
This workshop will be offered under the astute guidance of photojournalist Helen Solmes,
who worked with the late renowned Harvard Zavedosky some years back in offering a similar
workshop for photographers. Take note that this workshop is NOT about learning how to use
your digital camera. A prior workshop is hopefully planned to take care of that aspect. This workshop will
focus on how to get the best possible picture with your digital camera from the point of view of composition,
lighting, angle and mood. The class is expected to fill up fast, so watch for confirmed details
and how to preregister on this site.

Young People's Writing Workshop - September, 2010 - date, time and place TBA
Under the direction of writer Arleen Gray (writing as Arleen Brenner),
this workshop will be open to young people with a class size limit of eight
- a small fee will be charged. (For more details, see the Literary Arts page.)


A Cultural Festival of Fine Wine and Art - Saturday, October 3, 2010
The first joint festival in 2009 was such a huge success that the Lions invited EDAC to participate again,
Exact time and place to be determined.

 

Plains of Abstraction - November, 2010 - date, time and place TBA
A provincial touring exhibition of works highlighting abstract painting in the province.

 

The Art of Relief Printmaking - date, time and place TBA
Under the talented direction of Juanita Heembrock, this workshop will be aimed at
grade school children (specific grades TBA). (See the Visual Arts page for more information)

 

Ward Schell's Painting Workshop - February, 2011 - date, time and place TBA
The workshop held in February of 2010 in Esterhazy was such a huge success,
with full registration and intense joyful focus by the participants,
that not only has Ward agreed to come back next year,
but discussions are going forward to hold a similar workshop
in February of each year through 2015!

 

Coming home with PRADO III - date to be confirmed - either May 26-29 or June 2-5, 2011
- to be held at the S.N. Boreen Community Centre, Esterhazy Sask.
A joint effort of the Melville Arts Council, the Yorkton Arts Council,
and the Esterhazy & District Arts Council,
this event is an opportunity for Parkland artists to show their work
in this third annual artists deveopment and adjudication weekend.

 

Mixed Messages: Fragmented Stories - March, 2012 - dates, time and place TBA
