We have many facets to the services we provide for the community, which touch all the arts: visual, performing, literary. If we can help you in any of your artistic endeavours, please let us know.

Our meetings are the fourth Monday of every month, 7 p.m., in Council Chambers at the Town Office. If you would like to volunteer to be a part of our wonderful membership, please phone 745-2231. Interested people are welcome to attend.

UPCOMING EVENTS


 

Photography Workshop - Introduction to landscape and portraiture - FIELD TRIP
Sept 11 , 2010 - 8am - 3pm - cost $40.00 - meet at Museum parking lot and carpool to destination
(Alternate date is Sept. 18, 2010 - if weather is not appropriate on Sept. 11)
This workshop will be offered under the astute guidance of photojournalist Helen Solmes,
who worked with the late, renowned Harvard Zavedosky some years back in offering a similar
workshop for photographers. Take note that this workshop is NOT about learning how to use
your camera.
Please make sure you know your photographic equipment before you come. This workshop will
focus on how to get the best possible picture with your camera from the point of view of composition,
lighting, angle and mood. The class is expected to fill up fast, so watch for confirmed details
and how to preregister on this site. (See Visual Arts page for registration and other details.)

All members are requested to attend to vote on the new slate of officers for 2010-2011.

A Cultural Festival of Fine Wine and Art - Saturday, October 2, 2010 - S.N. Boreen Community Centre - times TBA
The first combination wine fest and art show in 2009 was such a huge success
that the Lions invited EDAC to participate again,
We expect the event to be even more popular this year.

Plains of Abstraction - November, 13 and 14, 2010 - times and place TBA
Kids' educational tour hosted by former teacher and EDAC President, Pat Arndt

A provincial touring exhibition of works highlighting abstract painting in the province.

The Art of Relief Printmaking - date, time and place TBA
Under the talented direction of Juanita Heembrock, this workshop will be aimed at
grade school children (specific grades TBA). (See the Visual Arts page for more information)

 

Ward Schell's Painting Workshop - February, 2011 - date, time and place TBA
The workshop held in February of 2010 in Esterhazy was such a huge success,
with full registration and intense joyful focus by the participants,
that not only has Ward agreed to come back next year,
but discussions are going forward to hold a similar workshop
in February of each year through 2015!

 

PRADO III - date and times to be confirmed - to be held at the Melville Community Works
A joint effort of the Melville Arts Council, the Yorkton Arts Council,
and the Esterhazy & District Arts Council,
this event is an opportunity for our Parkland artists to show their work
in this third annual artists deveopment and adjudication weekend.
